The city of Montreal is embracing the holiday season in full force with our streets lit up with Christmas décor, and at Place Des Arts in December, there are plenty of amazing shows to choose from. Place Des Arts is one of Montreal’s most popular tourists and locals destination for outstanding performances and for hosting incredible festivals. The hilarious Just for Laughs Festival and the ever-popular Montreal Jazz Festival call Place des Arts home. 

The holidays are a time of sharing, so booking any of these shows can be a great early Christmas gift for your loved ones or a terrific way to spoil yourself. A night in Montreal can lead to exciting avenues, but we suggest having a nice dinner in any of Montreal’s finest restaurants and then heading to any of these shows.  Art Exhibition

An interactive exhibit that focuses on the magical properties of water using metaphors about our relationship with the life-giving property. You will be able to interact with different pieces using your phone and others onsite, making the experience immersive one.

Robert en Chaleboisscope

Date and Time: December 1st to December 3rd 8:00pm

Quebec’s legendary singer Robert Charlebois hits the stage in honor of his fifty years in the Quebecois entertainment industry. He will be singing all his hit songs coupled with images he has collected throughout his career. 

Compagine Virginie Brunelle-Fables

Date and Time: December 1st to December 3rd 8pm

Theme: Dance

Venue: Theatre Maisonneuve 


Immersive into Virginie Brunelle’s Fable as her dance troupe takes you back to the early 1900s through the female lens. Twelve dancers and a single pianist will explore the challenges of the early feminist movements and deal with the various female archetypes of that time. Fable is a homage to those who helped pave the way for future generations of women fighting for more rights in the decades to follow this story. 

Germaine & Musique a Bouches

Date and Time: Saturday December 3rd 8:00pm

Two musical Quebecois singings groups will share the stage at Place Des Arts. Germaine who hails Montreal, Rimouski, and Musique a Bouche from Sherbrooke will be playing their latest songs inspired by Quebecois heritage. 

Ensemble Caprice and Festival Classica – Handel’s Messiah

Date and Time: Sunday December 4th 2:00pm

Venue: Maison Symphonique


Enjoy ninety minutes of this classical music masterpiece led by Conductor Matthias Maute. Entice your ears with the sounds of the holiday season with 38 musicians accompanied by a large choir who will perform Handel’s Messiah. 

Barbara Hannigan and the Symphonie Fantastique

Date and Time: December 7th to 11th 730pm,230pm

Theme: Classical Music

Venue: Maison Symphonique


Classical music lovers will not want to miss this concert with Barbara Hannigan and the OSM (Montreal Symphonique Orchestra) who will bring alive different eras in the genre. Hannigan, who is a soprano, will add to the already powerful orchestra, which will be conducted by Rafael Payare and will perform Berlioz’s Symphonie Fantastique.

Bach, Que Ma Joie Demeure

Date and Time: Friday December 9th 7:30pm

Theme: Classical Music

Venue: Maison Symphonique


Bernard Labadie will help usher in the holiday season by conducting Johann Sebastien Bach’s Cantatas, such as “Jesus, Joy of Man’s Desiring.” This concert is the final show of the Festival Bach Montreal and will feature La Chapelle de Quebec and Les Violins du Roy, whose musical prowess is exceptional. 

The Glenn Miller Orchestra – In the Christmas Mood

Date and Time: Friday December 23rd 7:00pm

Theme: Big Band/Jazz

Venue: Maison Symphonique 


Nothing will get you more primed and in the Mood for Christmas than the legendary Glen Miller Orchestra. With an 18-piece ensemble with singers, you can expect to hear all your holiday favorites with high energy and tempo; you will not be able to stay off your feet. If you love the Big Band era and have no shortage of brass instruments, this concert is a can’t miss.

A spectacular event with three amazing Quebecois artists at the forefront of the 125 choir members who will add even more holiday joy to the mix. Quebecois icons Guylaine Tanguay and Roch Voisin will be your hosts and lead singers for the night, and Alexandrea Da Costa will be conducting the Orchestre Symphonique Longueuil. Ring in the New Year with fantastic music by talented artists is a lovely way to end 2022.
