Nothing Makes A Kid Or Your Princess-Loving Girlfriend Smile Like Disney

Disney is bringing its vast roster of animated characters to life at the Bell Centre from March 2 to 5. You will be able to sing along and even interact with many of the characters you and your children have fallen in love with. Two of Disney’s most popular recent films, Frozen and Encanto, will be put on ice and tell their stories throughout the evening.

Disney classics brought to life.

Not only is Disney taking over the Bell Center, but they are also taking over Place des Art from Tuesday, March 28th, to Sunday, April 2nd. Instead of a show on ice, you’ll get to see one of the Broadway musical hits, Aladdin. Perfect for the whole family and anyone who doesn’t want to see their favorite genie sing and dance all night long.

Showtimes

The showtimes cover a wide range of starting times, the earliest being 11:00 am, ideal for small children, to 8:00 pm, suitable for a date night with a Disney fanatic. Montrealnightlife.com can help make your date even more romantic by reserving a great spot at a restaurant for you to enjoy.

What to wear

To set the mood, you can dress your children in their favorite Disney costumes, but they must be under the age of fourteen. Please remember to dress appropriately, as the temperatures inside the arena will be cool, and it may be best to bring a hat for the kids. You can take pictures as long as you do not use the images for profit, which means you can capture the magical moment with your family without any worries.

The History of Disney on Ice

It all started in 1981 when the show was initially called Walt Disney’s World on Ice before changing to Disney on Ice in 1997. Walt Disney, the company’s founder, loved ice skating and enjoyed adding it to his animated stories. Other ice show performances inspired Disney and it comes as no surprise that the company would create its series of ice performances.

Each show created is different as they focus on other characters and their respective journeys. Theater in itself can be challenging, and adding the element of ice to the equation makes Disney on Ice a special kind of performance.

Standout Performers

Disney takes figure skating events as seriously as the Olympics, holding its athletes to the highest standards and creating stunning, picture-perfect shows. Over the years, Disney has attracted amazing figure skaters like four-time Olympic champion Linda Fratianne and choreographers like Cindy Stuart. Stuart has helped Olympic thletes such as gold medalist Katarina Witt, bronze medalist Joannie Rochette, Xue Shen, Hongbo Zhao, and Canada’s favorite pair, Jamie Sale and David Pelletier, achieve their dreams. Even Phillipe Candeloro and Katarina Witt have joined the ice as special guests.

Where it all began

“Aladdin” is a musical based on the 1992 Disney animated film of the same name, which was adapted from the Arabic folk tale “One Thousand and One Nights”. The musical has since been performed worldwide and remains one of Disney’s most famous stage productions. The Broadway production of “Aladdin” opened on March 20, 2014 at the New Amsterdam Theatre in New York City.

The musical was directed and choreographed by Casey Nicholaw and featured music by Alan Menken, lyrics by Howard Ashman, Tim Rice and Chad Beguelin and a book by Beguelin. The Broadway production of Aladdin received positive reviews and was nominated for five Tony Awards, winning one for James Monroe Iglehart’s performance as the Genie.
