Montreal Loves Hip Hop

Artists Cholo-B, Scramblelock, Frank BLVD, and DJ Devious, in collaboration with Handy “HYA” Yacinthe—a pioneer in Quebec’s popping dance community and a significant influencer in the Canadian and international street dance scenes—invite you to a week-long celebration of street dance culture from August 29th to September 4th in the Quartier des spectacles. The festival aims to immerse attendees in the rich history and vibrant presence of Hip Hop in Montreal and beyond, featuring an exhibition of archives and objects. Over 150 artists from diverse backgrounds will showcase their talents through high-level battles, breaking, popping, hip hop, krump, beat-making, Kidz Battle, and master classes. The event is a festive and electrifying experience highlighting street dance as both a cultural and social phenomenon, offering an opportunity to discover Afro-American community dances that have gained global popularity.

Friday September 1st

Les Premiere Vendredi as Stade Olympique

Kicking off on Friday, September 1st, First Fridays returns to the Esplanade of the Olympic Park in Montreal as Canada’s largest street food event. Since its inception in 2012, the monthly festival, from June to October, has become a gastronomic and cultural staple in the community. Each edition gathers over 50 food trucks and boasts more than 3,000 seats, making it the largest temporary terrace in town.
